I LOVE french toast, and growing up I would choose it for my birthday dinner every single year (it drove my dad crazy). For my birthday this past year, Casey surprised me by secretly taking the day off of work, sneaking out to buy me flowers, and then making me breakfast in bed. I was amazing. And of course, we had french toast :) This recipe is a little different than normal french toast, so if it might have a slightly different taste/texture to what you're used to!
Ingredients (serves 4-6)
3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/4 cups milk
1 pinch salt
6 large eggs
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
2-3 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 tablespoons white sugar
12 thick slices of bread (I use Texas Toast)
- Measure flour into a large mixing bowl, and slowly whisk in the milk.
- Add in the salt, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar. Whisk until smooth.
- Heat a lightly greased griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
- Soak bread slices in mixture until fully saturated.
- Cook bread for a few minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Serve hot with butter and syrup!
